A Philadelphia man will be sentenced in August after admitting on Monday to the sexual abuse and statutory sexual assault of a 14-year-old Warminster girl and possessing child pornography.

Khari Nysier Mathis, 30, of the 1300 block of South 29th Street, in a negotiated deal, pleaded guilty to felony counts of statutory sexual assault, sexual abuse of children via videotaping sexual acts aggravated indecent assault on a person under 16, possession of child pornography, corruption of minors, and misdemeanor indecent assault on a person under 16, according to court documents.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 13. Mathis remains jailed in Bucks County on 10% of $1 million cash bail.

Other felony charges were dismissed, including three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault on a victim under 16, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault on a victim under 16, and three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault on a person under 16, according to court records.

A felony charge of sexual abuse of children via dissemination of media was withdrawn at a preliminary hearing.

On April 24, 2023, the mother of the 14-year-old victim reported to Warminster detectives that her daughter met Mathis, then 28, on Instagram, and then had sex with him multiple times, according to the affidavit.

On one of the occasions, Mathis allegedly recorded the two having sex and sent it to another juvenile female. Detectives would later be shown the video by the juvenile female, who kept it in her phone; they would uncover a second video showing Mathis’s alleged underage sex encounter.

The victim told police when she met Mathis on Instagram, she told him she was 15 years old, not 14, and Mathis allegedly told her he was 22 years old. The two would continue to chat on Instagram and via text messages, until they met in person, at her home, about four or five times for a few months, police said.

Each time the two met, they allegedly had sex in Mathis’s car while parked on Green Court in Warminster Township. Their encounters included oral and vaginal sex.

Furthermore, authorities said that each time Mathis met with the victim, he had a gun on his lap and would put it under the seat once the victim got into his car, police said. The victim said Mathis asked her to “trap” with him, which means to sell drugs, according to the complaint.

The victim expected trapping to turn into her being touched sexually for money, according to authorities.

On one incident, Mathis’s ex-girlfriend called the victim to tell her Mathis was 28 years old and had a child, police said.

When Mathis’s phone was seized as evidence by investigators, a forensic search uncovered text messages between the two, with Mathis talking about “trapping” and having sex the night prior, police said.

Investigators were able to obtain subscriber details for Mathis’s phone, which led to his social media accounts, emails and more, police said.

In June 2025, police recorded a call between the victim and Mathis, in which the victim told him it was her 16th birthday, to which he responded by asking when and what she did for the birthday, according to the complaint. Mathis then acknowledged having sex with the victim, recording it and sending it to the juvenile, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
