Pearl S. Buck International is rolling out a pair of spring and summer events at its historic Dublin Road estate, blending nature, history and community programming at the National Historic Landmark site.
The organization will first celebrate the official opening of its newly accredited Green Hills Farm Arboretum on May 31 from 1 to 4 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will take place across the 67-acre property, which features gardens, open lawns, wooded areas, ponds and more than 50 varieties of trees.
Guests can enjoy an opening ceremony, educational talks on plant life, guided nature walks, children’s activities and an ice cream truck.
The arboretum is part of the former home of Nobel Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck, who purchased the property in 1934 and lived there for more than four decades. The estate, which dates back to 1714, later became a museum and cultural site and was designated a National Historic Landmark. Today, the grounds serve as preserved open space while supporting educational and cultural programming tied to Buck’s legacy.
Later in the season, the estate will host “Raise A Glass: Beer, Brewing, and the Road to Revolution” on June 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. as part of America 250 programming. The ticketed evening event will explore the role of beer in colonial America and its connection to the nation’s founding, featuring a presentation by biochemist and beer historian Dr. Jessica Zenskie.
The program will include a period-style beer tasting from Langhorne-based Aristaeus Craft Brewery, followed by a beer garden experience with live music, food and drink for purchase, raffle baskets and historical exhibitors.
Two ticket options are available, with guests able to attend the full presentation and tasting or the beer garden portion only. Tickets are available online and are expected to sell out.
Pearl S. Buck International, which works to promote cross-cultural understanding and support children around the world, continues to use the historic estate as a hub for education, preservation and community engagement. More information on both events is available at pearlsbuck.org
