A Central Bucks Regional Police officer was recognized last week for her role in saving the life of a man who suffered cardiac arrest in Doylestown Borough.
Officer Rhiannon Browne received a Lifesaving Commendation during the department’s April 23 Police Commission meeting, where Chief Knott presented the award for her actions during a March 28 emergency.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 57 W. Court St. for a report of a 45-year-old man in cardiac arrest. Browne, along with Sgt. Wayne Jones and Capt. Paul Kreuter, arrived to find the man unresponsive. Browne immediately began providing rescue breathing using a bag valve mask as additional emergency responders arrived on scene.
Doylestown Fire Company initiated chest compressions, while Central Bucks EMS provided advanced life support measures. Police said the coordinated response ultimately allowed the man to regain the ability to breathe on his own and survive the incident.
Officials noted that sudden cardiac arrest remains one of the leading causes of death among adults over 40, with survival heavily dependent on immediate intervention. Police said Browne’s quick recognition of the emergency and prompt action played a direct role in the positive outcome.
The department said her actions reflect both individual dedication and the importance of rapid, coordinated emergency response.
