A Hilltown Township man will serve time in state prison after police found two loaded firearms during an investigation into a stolen vehicle in Montgomery Township.
Lewis Calvin Riley IV, 43, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 4½ to 10 years in a state correctional facility after pleading guilty to charges including persons not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle. The sentence, according to The Mercury, was imposed by Judge Todd D. Eisenberg as part of a plea agreement.
The case began Feb. 25, 2025, when a relative reported Riley had taken her vehicle without permission from a Hilltown residence. Using GPS tracking, the vehicle was located in a parking lot along Welsh Road in Montgomery Township, where police made contact with Riley.
According to the criminal complaint, Riley told officers he had two loaded revolvers inside a duffel bag in the vehicle.
Police recovered the firearms, along with additional BB guns and ammunition, and determined the weapons had been taken from the relative’s home. Investigators said Riley was prohibited from possessing firearms due to his criminal history and did not have a valid permit.
Additional charges, including receiving stolen property, were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
