GIANT MARKET INITIATIVE

Customer donations and company match help address food insecurity across local districts

The GIANT Company announced that its Feeding School Kids initiative has raised more than $1.2 million to support food programs in public school districts across the communities it serves, including Central Bucks School District.

The initiative, conducted in partnership with customers, ran from Jan. 1 through March 31 at GIANT, MARTIN’S and GIANT Heirloom Market stores. During that time, shoppers were invited to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar or convert CHOICE points into donations benefiting local school districts. The company also contributed an additional $100,000.

“Thanks to the continued support of our customers and team members, we have now raised nearly $10 million to help local public schools make a difference in their hunger relief programs,” said Courtney Hopcraft, manager of community relations and strategic partnerships for The GIANT Company.

Funds raised through the program support a range of initiatives aimed at addressing food insecurity, including weekend backpack programs, student meal access, on-campus food pantries and school garden programs. Donations are distributed locally, with customer contributions benefiting the school districts in their respective communities.

Central Bucks School District received $18,857 through the program.

In addition to Central Bucks, nine other public school districts across Pennsylvania and neighboring states received funding through the initiative, with allocations based in part on the level of need within each district.
