Families and educators across Central Bucks will have an opportunity this spring to gain practical tools to support student well-being and learning during an upcoming community seminar hosted by the Central Bucks School District Education Foundation.
The event, titled “Supporting the Whole Child: Perspectives on Anxiety and Learning Differences,” is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at Unami Middle School, 160 Moyer Road, Chalfont.
Organized with support from Central Bucks School District, the session is open to parents, guardians, teachers, staff, and community members.
The seminar will focus on addressing rising levels of student anxiety and supporting neurodivergent learners in educational settings. Presenters will highlight actionable strategies, including trauma-informed practices, classroom accommodations, mindfulness techniques, and flexible teaching approaches designed to reduce barriers to learning and promote student success.
Attendees will hear from a panel of experienced professionals, including Dr. Megan Maynard, a Central Bucks school psychologist; Dr. Jason B. Tanenbaum, a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist based in Chalfont; and Dr. Lorna Jansen, a licensed psychologist specializing in anxiety, depression, and ADHD. The speakers will offer insight into how cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges impact students and share ways families and educators can work collaboratively to create supportive environments.
Tickets for the general public are $25, while teachers may attend at no cost and earn Act 48 credit by registering through Frontline. Proceeds from the event will support the Central Bucks School District Education Foundation and its grant program for teachers.
District officials said the program is designed to equip attendees with “practical, easy-to-apply tips” that can make a meaningful difference in students’ academic experiences and overall well-being.
