Central Bucks School District has selected Dr. Joanna Wexler as its next superintendent, school officials announced, following a search shaped by extensive community input.
The board is scheduled to officially appoint Wexler as superintendent at an April 14 special meeting at 7 p.m. at the district's Educational Services Center.
Board leaders said feedback from hundreds of stakeholders helped define the qualities sought in the district’s next leader, including a focus on academic excellence, school safety, strong communication, and experience in special education and student-centered leadership. Officials said Wexler’s background aligns closely with those priorities, citing her track record of leading large systems, addressing complex issues, and building trust through visible leadership.
Wexler currently serves as assistant superintendent in the Great Valley School District, where she oversees key areas of human resources, including hiring, evaluations, and labor relations. She has also played a major role in districtwide initiatives, including school realignment efforts and the implementation of instructional frameworks such as Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. In addition, she serves as the district’s Title IX coordinator.
Before that role, Wexler spent six years as Great Valley’s director of special education and student services, where she led programs aimed at supporting students with diverse learning needs and strengthening safety systems. Her career spans nearly three decades and includes roles as a school psychologist, clinical services coordinator, and supervisor of student services across multiple districts, as well as early experience with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit.
Wexler holds degrees from Ursinus College and Temple University, along with a superintendent’s letter of eligibility from Immaculata University.
The district will formally introduce Wexler to the community during a public forum scheduled for April 8 at Central Bucks West High School. The event will include opening remarks from Wexler, a student performance, and a moderated question-and-answer session featuring pre-submitted questions.
School board leaders thanked the community for its input throughout the search process and said they look forward to Wexler’s leadership as the district moves ahead.
