A Croydon man is facing felony charges after Buckingham Township Police said he stole jewelry and sneakers from a home where he had been working as a contractor.
Adam Michael Barnett, 24, of the 300 block of Elm Avenue, was charged Wednesday with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, both felonies, in connection with the March incident, police said.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim reported March 12, 2026 that a gold bracelet valued at about $3,000 and a pair of sneakers worth about $360 were missing from inside his home on Charter Club Drive. The items were discovered missing after contractors—who had been working at the residence since February—completed their job, police said.
Investigators identified Barnett as one of the contractors at the home and later obtained images allegedly showing him in possession of the stolen bracelet. Police said Barnett sold the bracelet March 7 to a check-cashing business in Bristol for $500.
After learning police were investigating, Barnett returned to the business and bought the bracelet back for $700 before returning it to the victim, according to the complaint.
Police allege Barnett took the items “with the intent to deprive the owner thereof” and later possessed the stolen property knowing it had been unlawfully taken.
A summons has been issued in the case. There is no bail. A preliminary hearing is set for May 14 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Barton.
