A cousin has posted a GoFundMe to assist the family with funeral expenses.
“She was just 22 years old; barely a day before her 23rd birthday, a ruthless individual snatched her life away,” wrote Herlinda, a cousin who said she was “unjustly taken” from their family. “The case remains under investigation.”
According to the cousin’s post, much of Popol’s family is not in the country at this time.
“Her parents, who are in Guatemala, are devastated and crying out for justice,” said her GoFundMe page. “We urgently need financial assistance to repatriate her body to our home country.”
