Grow Perkasie celebrated its grand opening Friday, March 13 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Located at 401 E. Callowhill Street, the full-service garden center offers a wide range of gardening essentials, including annuals and perennials, trees and shrubs, soil and mulch and tools and accessories.
The family-owned business was founded by twin brothers and Perkasie residents Joe and John Koenig and Joe’s wife, Laura. The trio connected while working together in the Landscape Design/Build Division at Bucks County Gardens in Doylestown. They went on to establish k.squared Landscape, a Perkasie-based landscape design and build company.
After years of desiring a brick-and-mortar shop, the Koenigs purchased the property on Callowhill Street in December 2024 to launch Grow Perkasie.
“We’ve been fixing it up, and we’re excited to be part of the community and share our love of plants and knowledge of landscaping,” said Joe Koenig. “We really want to become Perkasie’s backyard.”
In addition to the merchandise, Grow Perkasie plans on hosting seasonal, hands-on workshops to highlight practical skills that can be employed in gardening and outdoor spaces. The sessions are planned for the first Thursday and Saturday of every month, said Grow Perkasie’s website.
Among dozens of attendees at Friday’s ribbon-cutting were local and state officials, who hailed the business as an asset to the community.
“It takes a community to start a garden,” said Perkasie Council member Robin Schiilling, noting the large turnout.
“It’s perfect timing; just in time for spring,” added state Rep. Craig Staats, who presented the Koenigs with a certificate of achievement from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Grow Perkasie’s official opening is slated for March 20. Koenig hopes the business will become a staple in the community.
“We want to be a place where people can come, hang out, get knowledge of plants and advice on what to do with their gardens,” said Koenig. “And hopefully buy a plant when they leave.”
Beginning March 20, Grow Perkasie will be open Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit growperkasie.com
