Central Bucks West senior Chris Dennis capped his standout career with a runner-up finish at 172 pounds at the PIAA Class 3A Wrestling Championships Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey.
Dennis advanced to the state final but fell 4-1 in sudden victory to Wilson West Lawn’s McKaden Speece after the match was tied 1-1 through regulation, according to The Mercury.
Dennis briefly led after scoring an escape in the second period before Speece answered with an escape of his own in the third to force overtime, per match coverage.
The Wilson senior secured the title with a takedown in sudden victory. The silver medal marked the fourth PIAA podium finish for Dennis, who previously placed sixth as a freshman and sophomore and fourth last season, according to the report. The Utah Valley commit finished his senior season 41-3 and closed his career with a 151-25 record.
The Bucks also saw two additional wrestlers reach the medal stand. According to the report, sophomore Daniel Dennis placed fifth at 145 pounds, earning his first state medal with a 4-1 decision in the consolation round, while senior Kevin Mallon finished eighth at 152.
