A Middletown Township, Bucks County man who previously worked as a police officer was arrested Tuesday as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
Thomas J. Mee, 47, was arrested by the Bucks County Detectives and charged with felony counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and criminal use of a communication facility; and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, according to court documents.
Detectives said that Mee agreed to purchase $500 worth of methamphetamine from a person who he believed to be a drug dealer at the Walmart in Hilltown Township.
Authorities said the arrangement was made through cellular telephone communications and face-to-face conversations as part of the investigation.
Mee went to buy the quarter-pound of meth and exchanged money for it, authorities said. Court documents state the amount involved was approximately one-quarter pound of methamphetamine.
Mee was then arrested by county detectives after the sale took place, authorities said. Police said Mee took possession of the methamphetamine during the arranged exchange before detectives moved in and placed him under arrest.
The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the complaint.
Court papers stated the arrest was part of an ongoing investigation.
The Bucks County Courier Times reported Mee worked as a Bensalem Township police officer for 13 years before leaving in 2019 for “personal reasons.”
Mee is jailed on 10% of $500,000 cash bail, ahead of a March 31 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.
