Police responded Wednesday night after a deceased adult male was discovered near a practice field on the Central Bucks West High School campus.

Emergency dispatchers received a report around 8:23 p.m. Wednesday of a possible deceased body in the unit block of Memorial Drive, an area that borders Doylestown Borough and Doylestown Township near the Central Bucks West campus.

The location is near Pettine Field, one of the school’s practice fields situated along Memorial Drive near the Coach Pettine Sports Complex and adjacent to the YMCA.

In a message sent to families Wednesday night, Central Bucks West Principal Lyndell Davis and Interim Superintendent Dr. Charles Malone confirmed that local police were called to the area after the man was found.

“According to police, this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to students, staff, or the campus,” the email to the school community stated. “Police are currently handling the situation and the area is secure. We are confident that school can operate safely and normally tomorrow.”

The identity of the man has not been released. Authorities told NBC10 the cause of death remains under investigation.

A dispatcher with Bucks County non-emergency communications also confirmed Wednesday night that there is no threat to the surrounding community.

The area of Memorial Drive where the incident occurred runs between borough and township property. The main Central Bucks West High School and War Memorial Field are located within the borough, while nearby tennis courts and the Coach Pettine Sports Complex are located across Memorial Drive in Doylestown Township.

Police have not released additional details as of Wednesday night. The investigation remains ongoing.
