The Lambertville–New Hope Winter Festival Chili Cook-Off has been rescheduled because of severe winter weather expected this weekend.

Originally planned for Sunday, the popular charity event will now take place Sunday, March 1, from noon to 3 p.m. at Triumph Brewery in New Hope, organizers announced this week.

The decision was made to ensure the safety of attendees, volunteers, vendors and participating chili teams while preserving the quality and enjoyment of the longtime community tradition.

The chili cook-off is a highlight of the annual Winter Festival, which for 30 years has brought together residents and visitors from Lambertville, New Hope and surrounding communities for a weekend of music, food and winter-themed fun. Funds raised benefit local organizations including Fisherman’s Mark Social Services, the Delaware Valley Food Pantry and the Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter.

Organizers said moving the cook-off to March will allow for greater attendance and a more enjoyable experience for all involved. All event details — including participating teams, ticketing and charitable beneficiaries — will remain the same for the new date.

The festival weekend still begins Friday, Jan. 30 with a concert by folk legend Tom Rush at New Hope Winery, followed by a dance party Saturday night at Triumph Brewery. Ice sculptures and other Winter Festival activities are also planned throughout the weekend.

The chili cook-off traditionally features up to 30 local restaurants competing for people’s choice and judges’ awards, with attendees sampling a wide variety of chili creations.

“It brings our community together while giving back at the same time. The laughter, the love, and of course the incredible chili all come together to create an unforgettable event that supports our local food pantries and social services,” organizer Eric Green said in a previous festival announcement.

Organizers encouraged the public to follow official Winter Festival social media pages for updates. Questions can be directed to 267-987-7855 or [email protected]
