The police activity was centered on a home on Heather Road.
Manuel Gamiz Jr., a spokesperson for the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, confirmed NewtownPANow.com’s reporting that three people were found deceased in the home.
Several law enforcement sources called the deaths suspected homicides.
“At 2:15 this afternoon Northampton Township Police Officers responded to a single-family home in Churchville for a well-being check. Upon arrival to the home, they were confronted by an adult male armed with a knife,” Gamiz said.
Northampton Township police requested the multi-agency South Central Emergency Response Team respond to the scene around 2:40 p.m., sources said.
Tactical officers surrounded the home and later made entry, finding the bodies, sources said.
The man, who was armed, was later taken into custody by the tactical team, authorities said.
Gamiz said there is no further danger to the community.
A neighbor told this news organization an elderly couple, who have an adult son and daughter lived in the home.
The incident led to police departments from around the lower and central parts of the county responding to the scene Tuesday afternoon.
