Police are investigating a suspected multi-victim homicide in Northampton Township.
The incident began mid-afternoon Monday when officers were dispatched to a residence on Heather Road for a well-being check, according to law enforcement sources.
Police learned that a potentially armed man was inside the home, the sources said.
Northampton Township police activated the South Central Emergency Response Team shortly before 3 p.m. for a possible barricaded subject at the location, the sources said. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Newtown Township, Warrington Township, the sheriff’s office, and Middletown Township, responded as part of the team.
As the tactical team was outside the home, it was discovered that there were several bodies in the dwelling, a source on the scene told NewtownPANow.com.
By 6 p.m., tactical officers, detectives, and personnel from the Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad and the township fire department were staged along the residential street.
The man was believed to be contained to the residence as of dusk on Tuesday, a source said.
Police have confirmed “law enforcement activity” in the area but have not yet released more information.
Northampton Township police and investigators from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office will lead the probe, sources said.
