Warminster Township has issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency ahead of the significant winter storm expected to impact the region this weekend and into early next week.
The emergency declaration takes effect Saturday, at 6 p.m. and will remain in place through Tuesday at 6 p.m., according to township officials. During that time, Warminster Police will strictly enforce all snow-related ordinances to ensure roadways remain clear for snowplows and emergency vehicles.
Police are asking residents to remove all vehicles from township roadways for the duration of the emergency, warning that parked cars significantly delay snow removal operations.
Under Township Ordinance No. 756, it is unlawful to park or allow a vehicle to remain on any road or street once an emergency has been declared by the township manager or designee. Vehicles left on roadways are subject to enforcement action.
Officials also reminded residents that snow may not be pushed or shoveled into public streets, even from private property or sidewalks. Ordinance No. 702 prohibits placing snow or ice into roadways, as it creates hazardous conditions and interferes with plowing operations.
