The Telford Borough Council Monday, January 12 discussed multiple proposals to attract police officers to the borough.
In his report, Chief Randy Floyd suggested the elimination of the $65 application fee as well as the reimbursement of police academy costs. He expressed opposition to hiring bonuses, characterizing them as unfair to current officers.
The discussion follows the hiring of patrol officer Eric McCoach, who was sworn in at Monday’s meeting. Floyd noted that McCoach was one of just two applicants for the position.
The proposals will be on council’s February agenda.
