The Central Bucks School District school board is set to review early findings from its superintendent search process and take action on a long-term administrative appointment when it meets Thursday night.
A central focus of the meeting will be a presentation from the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, which is leading the district’s search for its next superintendent. Rebecca Roberts-Malamis, the BCIU’s deputy executive director and in-house legal counsel, is scheduled to outline the search process and review results from a recently completed community survey that drew broad participation across the district, according to the agenda.
According to the district, more than 840 teachers, staff members, parents, students, and community members responded to the survey, which was designed to identify priorities and leadership traits the board should consider as it interviews candidates. District officials have said the feedback will be used as a guiding tool during the interview and selection process, with respondents emphasizing academic strength, arts and athletics, college and career readiness, school safety, fiscal responsibility, facilities, transportation, and district reputation.
Strong communication skills, relationship-building, collaboration with the school board, and student-centered decision-making also ranked high among desired traits.
The board’s agenda also includes two related personnel actions involving Dr. Charles Malone, who currently serves as assistant superintendent for secondary education and current interim superintendent.
Directors are expected to vote on a motion appointing Malone to a new five-year term beginning July 1, 2026 and running through June 30, 2031, followed by a separate motion to approve his employment contract for that same period.
Malone’s role oversees middle and high school education across the district, and the proposed contract reflects long-term administrative continuity at a time when the district is simultaneously preparing for a superintendent transition. The agreement outlines compensation, benefits, evaluation procedures, and performance expectations tied to district goals.
Thursday’s meeting comes as Central Bucks continues to navigate several high-profile planning efforts, including leadership succession, academic priorities, and long-range operational needs. District officials have said the superintendent search remains on schedule, with community feedback forming a key foundation for next step.
