CENTRAL BUCKS SCHOOL DISTRICT

Central Bucks outlines snow plans as winter storm forecasts vary widely

If weather forces school buildings to close, the first closure would be a traditional snow day, district officials said

With weather forecasts calling for anywhere from a few inches to as much as 20 inches of snow this weekend into Monday, Central Bucks School District shared advance guidance to help families, students and staff prepare for possible schedule disruptions next week.

District officials said schools are currently planned to operate normally, but conditions will continue to be monitored closely. Any school closures, Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs), or other schedule changes will be communicated through the district’s usual notification channels. The district noted that some of the information shared now was also outlined in an earlier Oct. 30, 2025 communication.

If weather forces school buildings to close, the first closure would be a traditional snow day, since CBSD has not yet used one this school year.

Under the current calendar, Monday, Jan. 26 would serve as a snow day if closures are needed. Any additional closure days after that would shift to Flexible Instructional Days, which allow students to continue learning remotely.

District officials encouraged families to review FID procedures in advance.

To prepare for that possibility, CBSD asked all students, teachers and staff to take district-issued devices and chargers home on Friday. For elementary students, charged iPads will be sent home for grades K–2 without chargers, while students in grades 3–6 will be reminded to bring home their laptops and chargers. Families are also being asked to locate FID bags and review expectations ahead of time.

The district also outlined specific scheduling guidance for middle and high schools if weather closures impact next week. Tuesday is currently scheduled as the end of the second marking period and an early dismissal day for secondary students.

Regardless of how many closure days occur, the first day back would follow a Final Exam Day 2 schedule for high schools and a full day for middle schools, with the second day back serving as the end of the marking period and an early dismissal day, school officials said.

The second semester would then begin on the third day back. District leaders said the advance notice is intended to provide clarity and help families plan, while prioritizing safety and continuity of learning.
