A pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck while trying to get help for a disabled vehicle during a stretch of snow-related crashes investigated by Pennridge Regional Police Department on Saturday, according to information released Tuesday.
Police said the most serious incident occurred on Ridge Road near Old Bethlehem Road in East Rockhill Township, near Keelersville Club. A Chevrolet Equinox had earlier slid off the roadway and rolled over due to snowy conditions.
While the driver was attempting to get help, a Ford Ranger struck the pedestrian and then collided with the disabled Chevrolet, police said. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries, and the Chevrolet was towed from the scene.
Police investigated several other weather-related crashes throughout the region the same day.
A Honda Odyssey slid off the roadway and struck a curb while turning from State Road onto Bethlehem Pike in West Rockhill, while a Hyundai sedan slid and struck a fire hydrant while entering the parking lot at St. Luke’s Grand View, also in West Rockhill, police said.
A Chrysler 300 slid off-road and struck a guide rail at County Line Road and Hillcroft Way in West Rockhill Township, and an Isuzu Trooper left the roadway and struck a tree on North Fifth Street in East Rockhill, police said. No injuries were reported in those incidents.
Additional crashes included a head-on collision on Schukraft Road near Allentown Road in West Rockhill, where a Jeep Wrangler lost control on the snowy roadway and struck a Ford F-250, and a two-vehicle crash on Branch Road near Blooming Glen Road in East Rockhill, involving an Oldsmobile and a Ford F-350 that was backing out of a driveway while plowing, police said. No injuries were reported in either crash, though several vehicles across the incidents required towing.
Police reminded motorists to use caution during winter weather, slow down, and remain alert for disabled vehicles and pedestrians along snow-covered roadways.
