Residents looking to safely dispose of old electronics will have an opportunity this weekend as Buckingham Township hosts a Recycling Day focused on electronic waste.
The event, titled “Recycling Day: Anything with a Plug,” will be held Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon at Holicong Park, 5143 York Road. Participants should enter the park from York Road.
Township officials said the collection is open to residents seeking a responsible way to recycle obsolete or unwanted electronics.
All collected electronics will be processed by eForce Compliance, identified as Philadelphia’s first Certified Responsible Recycler. Township officials said all data-containing media will be destroyed or wiped as part of the recycling process.
The event will accept electronic devices with a plug, though smoke detectors and large appliances will not be accepted.
Accepted items include laptops, computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, cameras, cell phones, telephones, typewriters, calculators, microphones, fax machines, PCs, peripherals, and small appliances. Fees apply for certain items, including $30 per television or computer monitor, $10 per air conditioner, dehumidifier, or microwave, and $100 per wooden console or projection television.
