A Doylestown church is asking the community to help make prom night possible for young people with special needs by donating formalwear ahead of a major event next month.
Living Hope Community Church will host Night to Shine Doylestown on Feb. 13, offering a free, prom-night experience for people with special needs ages 14 and older. The event is part of a worldwide effort that includes more than 800 churches and is expected to serve roughly 100,000 honored guests through the support of nearly 189,000 volunteers.
To prepare for the evening, the church is hosting a free “shopping” experience where guests can select formal attire at no cost. Organizers are currently accepting donations of clean, ready-to-wear items, including dresses in sizes 0–28 (XS–3X), flat dress shoes for women, men’s suits, dress shirts, ties and pants, men’s dress shoes, and youth or young men’s formalwear in sizes 14–20.
Donations will be accepted through Tuesday at Living Hope Community Church, located at 311 West State Street in Doylestown, next to Lenape Middle School. Organizers said the goal is to ensure every guest feels celebrated, confident, and fully included on a night designed around dignity, joy, and belonging.
In addition to clothing donations, the church is also seeking business and community sponsors to help fund the event, which is offered 100% free to guests. Support can include in-kind donations, financial sponsorships, volunteer participation, or employee involvement on the night of the event. All contributions are tax-deductible, and sponsorships include varying levels of public recognition.
Doors for Night to Shine Doylestown will open at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 13.
