The search for the next superintendent of the Central Bucks School District entered a critical stage Monday, as the district kicked off a week of in-person community forums ahead of the Jan. 18 application deadline.
District officials announced that an online community survey is now open to all members of the public, including students, parents and guardians, district employees, and Central Bucks residents.
The survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, asks participants to weigh in on the traits, priorities, and leadership qualities they believe are most important in the district’s next superintendent.
The survey will remain open until 5 p.m. Friday, and district administrators have said all feedback will be reviewed and considered as part of the search process.
In addition to the survey, the district is hosting three in-person community forums this week, all beginning at 6 p.m., to provide another opportunity for public input. The forums are scheduled for Monday at Central Bucks East, Tuesday at Central Bucks South, and Wednesday at Central Bucks West. While pre-registration is optional, attendees are encouraged to sign up in advance to help the district plan for attendance.
Applications for the superintendent position are being accepted through Jan. 18, with the posting describing the role as an opportunity to lead “one of Pennsylvania’s premier public school systems.”
According to the listing, the district is seeking an experienced, future-focused education leader capable of advancing academic excellence, strengthening complex systems, and guiding the district through its next chapter while honoring its longstanding traditions.
The Central Bucks School Board voted on Nov. 20, 2025, to retain the Bucks County Intermediate Unit to facilitate the superintendent search. The Bucks IU is assisting with logistics, interview protocols, and process management, while the board retains full authority over which candidates advance and who is ultimately selected as the district’s next superintendent. A public forum with the finalist candidate is expected to be held prior to board approval, likely in April 2026.
Central Bucks is among the largest school districts in Pennsylvania, serving about 17,000 students across 23 schools in nine municipalities: Chalfont, Doylestown, and New Britain boroughs, and Buckingham, Doylestown, New Britain, Plumstead, Warrington, and Warwick townships. The district employs more than 3,000 faculty and staff across 15 elementary schools, five middle schools, and three high schools.
District leaders have outlined several core priorities they hope to see reflected in the next superintendent, including advancing instructional excellence, supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth, ensuring equity and inclusivity for all learners, and strengthening organizational effectiveness, fiscal stewardship, and community trust.
Earlier Monday, School Board President Heather Reynolds and Vice President Susan Gibson released a video message on the district’s YouTube channel outlining the timeline and encouraging broad community participation during what they described as a pivotal week in the search process.
Additional information about the superintendent search, including application materials and updates, is available on the Bucks County Intermediate Unit’s website and on the district’s website.
