A one-vehicle crash involving an SUV into a utility pole prompted a multi-agency response and a lengthy road closure Monday evening along Swamp Road/Route 313 on the border of Buckingham Township and Doylestown Borough.
Police from Central Bucks Regional Police Department and Buckingham Township Police Department were dispatched to the scene between Creek Drive and Maple Avenue after a white Ford SUV left the roadway and struck a utility pole, bringing down power lines. The SUV bore a Pennsylvania municipal government license plate.
The impact cracked the pole near the top crossmember and severed it near its base, creating a hazardous condition and necessitating a shutdown of the roadway. As a result, Swamp Road (Route 313) was closed between Cold Spring Creamery Road and Route 202/Buckingham Pike, a stretch of roughly 1.5 miles.
No injuries were reported in the crash. Utility crews were requested to assess and repair the damaged pole. The cause of the crash remained under investigation, and no further details were immediately released by police.
