A little lion of Pipersville has gone missing, and the search is on.
The Plumstead Township Police Department is assisting a local family in locating their cat, Aslan, who disappeared from a home along Stump Road earlier this week.
Aslan, last seen Monday, is a 6-year-old male cat with a regal presence befitting his name (likely taken from C.S. Lewis's classic "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe."). He resembles a Russian Blue, with a gray coat accented by white markings that can appear faintly striped in the right light.
He is medium-sized, weighing about 15 pounds, with a medium-length coat, erect ears, and a long tail. Police said he was wearing a collar with ID tags at the time he went missing.
Though Aslan is an outdoor barn cat, police described him as friendly and affectionate with his family. He may be cautious around unfamiliar people, but he is known to respond to his name or the unmistakable sound of a treat container being shaken.
He also gets along well with dogs and has a distinctive raspy, squeaky meow that can give away his location.
Police urged residents in the Stump Road area of Pipersville to keep an eye out, check barns, sheds, and garages, and listen closely for any unfamiliar feline chatter.
Anyone who believes they have seen Aslan, or who can safely contain him, was asked to contact Plumstead Township Police immediately. Residents were reminded to approach calmly to avoid startling him.
For now, the hope is that this wandering lion finds his way out of the woods and back home, turning a local mystery into a happy ending.
