In early 2026, a Penn State Extension workshop aimed at greenhouse growers and allied industries will offer presentations, networking opportunities and the ability to earn pesticide applicator recertification credits.
“Greenhouse Growers Day” will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 22, 2026, at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl.
This workshop is designed for greenhouse growers and operators, perennial producers, allied trades, and educators.
Organizers noted that top-quality speakers from industry and academia will present current topics and critical information on successful greenhouse production and management, and attendees will have opportunities for networking during the event.
The workshop will include the following programs:
— Best of Penn State Flower Trials.
— Identifying and Managing Aphids in Greenhouse and Interior Plantscapes and Landscapes.
— Root and Shoot: Winning the Greenhouse Disease Battle.
— Private Applicator Updates and Review.
— FloraCount: An App for Rapid Assessment of Pollinator Attractiveness to Annual and Perennial Plants.
— Water Quality for Chemistries and Plant Nutrition.
As part of the program, organizers will hold a silent auction in which attendees can participate.
Participants can earn Pennsylvania pesticide applicator credits in each of the following categories: core, private, 06, 18, 22 and 23.
The $60 registration fee includes lunch. Participants must register by 11:59 p.m. Jan. 19.
