Penn State Extension webinar series will focus on integrated pest management

Home gardeners, Master Gardeners, commercial growers and anyone interested in sustainable pest control can learn practical, sustainable strategies for managing pests through an upcoming Penn State Extension webinar series.

The “IPM Essentials: Tools, Tactics and Techniques” series will occur from noon to 1:15 p.m. March 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2026.

Designed for both experienced and novice participants, this four-part webinar series, led by experts in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Penn State Extension, will provide a deeper understanding of integrated pest management. Participants will gain practical strategies for implementing sustainable pest control across diverse settings.

Each session explores a key aspect of IPM — from foundational principles and pest monitoring techniques to identifying common pests and applying IPM practices in real-world scenarios.

Among other topics, the sessions will cover:

— The basic principles of integrated pest management.
— How to scout and monitor pest populations.
— How to recognize signs and symptoms of common pests and locate reliable identification resources.
— How to apply IPM strategies in real-world settings.

Pesticide applicator recertification credits are available for participants pending approval.

Organizers noted space is limited, so preregistration is required. Organizers encourage attendees to register by March 9, 2026. Registration carries a fee of $20.

Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinars. A link to the recorded webinars will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live events. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
