Woman attempted to roll out of Wegmans on motorized cart with thousands of dollars of groceries, police say

A Feasterville woman is facing felony retail theft and receiving stolen property charges after Warrington Township Police said she attempted to roll out of Wegmans with more than $1,200 worth of unpaid merchandise.

Maryann E. Verzilli, 56, of the 1800 block of Meadowbrook Drive, was charged Jan. 27, 2026 in connection with a Jan. 22 incident at Wegmans Market, 1405 Main St., Warrington Township, according to a criminal complaint.

Police said officers were dispatched to the store at 4:26 p.m. for a report of a retail theft in progress. Store loss prevention reported that a white female operating a motorized cart loaded multiple bags with merchandise and then passed all points of sale without paying, per the complaint.

According to police, loss prevention personnel stopped Verzilli outside the store.  

The total value of the merchandise was listed at $1,202. The items were recovered and returned to the store, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
