Amazon has announced a new $100,000 grant program aimed at supporting schools, nonprofits, community groups and residents across Bucks County.

The Amazon Bucks County Community Fund, unveiled last week, marks the company’s first localized fund of its kind in the area, according to a company statement. The initiative comes as Amazon continues expanding its footprint in the county, including construction of a multi-billion-dollar data center and technology campus at the Keystone Trade Center in Falls Township.

The fund will provide grants of up to $10,000 for nonprofit organizations. Individual applicants and community groups may apply for awards of up to $5,000.

“We’re thrilled to launch the Amazon Bucks County Community Fund and put resources directly into the hands of local changemakers,” said Lisa Schooley, community engagement manager at Amazon. “This initiative reflects our long-standing commitment to being a good neighbor by supporting innovative programs that increase inclusiveness in our communities.”

Focus areas

Amazon said the fund will prioritize projects centered on:

  • Education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Sustainability and environmental initiatives
  • Culture and heritage
  • Digital skills development
  • Hunger relief

Applicants may also seek funding to replicate successful community programs developed in other regions, the company said.

The program will be administered by ChangeX, an organization that will review applications based on funding criteria and anticipated community impact.

The announcement coincides with Amazon’s ongoing construction of its large-scale data center campus in Falls Township, a project previously reported by LevittownNow. The expansion has generated construction jobs and funding for local education initiatives, while also sparking public discussion over potential environmental impacts and energy demands tied to the facility.

Beyond the Falls Township project, Amazon operates several facilities in Bucks County and plans to construct a second data center in northeastern Pennsylvania.

A virtual information session is scheduled for March 6 at 11 a.m. via Zoom for those interested in learning more about the program.

Applications for the Amazon Bucks County Community Fund will be accepted through March 30.
