The snow emergency in Warrington Township has been extended by 24 hours after the National Weather Service upgraded the current storm to a Blizzard Warning.
The emergency, which began at 8 a.m. Sunday will now remain in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Township officials said they are continuing to monitor the storm, which is expected to impact the area through Tuesday.
Salt shortage may impact conditions
Officials reminded residents that a regional salt shortage is affecting all of Bucks County, limiting additional salt supplies. As a result, road conditions may deteriorate during periods of heavy snowfall.
Salt is also less effective when pavement temperatures fall below approximately 15 degrees, and roads may quickly become snow-covered again during active snowfall.
Parking and roadway restrictions remain in place
Residents are required to:
Officials noted that shoveling or blowing snow back into the street can create hazardous conditions and re-cover plowed areas. Snow should be placed on lawns or behind the curb, not in the roadway.
Travel and safety reminders
Township leaders urged residents to avoid non-essential travel and allow extra time for necessary trips. Vehicles should be fully cleared of snow and ice and fueled before heading out.
Residents are also reminded to:
Officials encouraged residents to check on elderly neighbors and those with mobility challenges and to keep driveways and access points clear for emergency vehicles.
Township crews will continue snow removal operations as conditions allow. Residents are advised to monitor official township communications for updates, including any further extensions or emergency declarations.
