Penn State Extension is inviting green industry professionals to attend the Southeast Pennsylvania Green Industry Conference, featuring networking opportunities, research, techniques and tools for success.
The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 5, at the Ambler Learning Center at Temple University, 580 Meetinghouse Road, Ambler.
The conference is designed for green industry professionals, park and school grounds managers, nursery owners, turfgrass professionals, landscape contractors, horticulturists, garden managers, green infrastructure and stormwater professionals, horticulture students and licensed pesticide applicators.
This year’s conference will highlight emerging challenges, pollination interactions, sustainable turf management strategies, plants for a changing climate, native plant production and usage — all designed to support business growth and environmental stewardship.
Sessions will cover:
— How to recognize and manage plant stressors in the landscape.
— The latest information on emerging pest and disease issues in the region.
— How to keep plants healthy while reducing pesticide usage.
— The use of native plants in the landscape.
— How to build resilient landscapes in a changing climate.
— The latest information from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
— How to use pesticides safely.
Pennsylvania pesticide applicator recertification credits are available in categories 06, 07, 18, 22, 23, core and private. International Society of Arboriculture and Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist credits also will be available.
Participants can register before Feb. 20 at a discounted price of $100; after this date, registration is $110. Organizers encourage attendees to register before March 5.
Current Penn State and Temple University students receive free admission with a valid student ID. Walk-ins will be accepted.
