Vienna Boys Choir returns March 8

As part of its Community Arts Series, the Playhouse will present the return of the Vienna Boys Choir for one performance only on Sunday, March 8, at 4 p.m. The concert will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe R.C. Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown.

Tickets start at $60 and are on sale now at BucksCountyPlayhouse.org or by calling 215-862-2121. Discounted rates are available for groups of 10 or more.

The Vienna Boys Choir last appeared in Doylestown in December 2023. With roots tracing back to 1498, when Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I established the Imperial Court Chapel in Vienna and required the inclusion of boy singers, the choir has built a global reputation over more than six centuries. Composers including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Anton Bruckner were associated with the court, and Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn and Franz Schubert were themselves choirboys.

Today, the Vienna Boys Choir consists of four touring choirs representing dozens of nations and presents more than 300 concerts annually worldwide. Its singing tradition is recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage in Austria.

The March 8 program will feature sacred works, Austrian folk songs, beloved classical selections and contemporary repertoire, reflecting the ensemble’s blend of tradition and modern engagement.

New ‘Women of Note’ series debuts in 2026

The Playhouse also announced the launch of “Women of Note,” a new 2026 performance series highlighting female artists whose work bridges generations and musical traditions.

The inaugural season will feature Meow Meow on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Storm Large on May 30 at 7:30 p.m. All performances will take place on the Playhouse’s mainstage at 70 S. Main St. in New Hope. Tickets range from $44 to $79.

The series idea was suggested by Playhouse board member Mitch Berlin, programmed by Producing Director Alexander Fraser and underwritten by Anna Bourne, Pamela Crawford and Kerrie MacPherson.

“I wanted to see a series that celebrates women whose artistry defies easy categorization — performers with bold voices, distinctive points of view and a real connection to audiences,” Berlin said. “Women of Note is about spotlighting artists who feel both of the moment and timeless.”

Fraser called the first two performers “the perfect artists to launch this new series,” noting that each blends high-art musicality with irreverent humor that transforms cabaret into immersive experiences.\

Meow Meow, described by The New Yorker as one of the “Top Performers of the Year,” is known for genre-defying cabaret performances at venues including Lincoln Center, London’s West End and the Sydney Opera House.

Storm Large rose to national prominence as a finalist on CBS’s “Rock Star: Supernova” in 2006 and later appeared on “America’s Got Talent.” She is widely known as one of the lead singers for the internationally renowned band Pink Martini and has performed with major orchestras across North America and Europe.

A regional arts anchor

Founded in 1939 and celebrating the 13th anniversary of its 2012 reopening and restoration, Bucks County Playhouse welcomes more than 80,000 patrons annually and has repeatedly broken box office records with productions including “White Christmas,” “Elf: The Musical,” “42nd Street,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Anastasia: The Musical.” In both 2024 and 2025, more than 40% of audience members were first-time attendees.
