CB East girls basketball falls to Upper Dublin in SOL tourney bout

Senior Jess Lockwood also reached a milestone, scoring her 1,000th career point in the first half

Central Bucks East pushed the top seed to the brink, but second-chance points proved costly in a 56-45 loss to Upper Dublin High School in the Suburban One League Tournament title game Tuesday night.

According to The Reporter, the Patriots trimmed the deficit to four early in the fourth quarter, only to see Upper Dublin grab five offensive rebounds on one trip before finally converting. That sequence swung the momentum back to the Cardinals and underscored the biggest difference of the night, as East struggled to finish defensive possessions down the stretch, according to the report.

Still, there were bright spots for Central Bucks East High School. Junior Haley Moran poured in 19 points, including a late three that made it a one-possession game, while freshman Payton Williams added 14 in a poised postseason performance, according to gameplay reporting.

Senior Jess Lockwood also reached a milestone, scoring her 1,000th career point in the first half. East showed it can trade punches with one of District 1’s top teams, a promising sign as the Patriots head into the district playoffs with a first-round bye.
