Emergency crews are on scene of a gas leak late Friday morning near a medical office complex along Lawn Avenue, prompting evacuations and road closures.
The incident was reported at 11:26 a.m. in front of 670 Lawn Ave., near Hidden Meadows Drive, in West Rockhill Township.
According to emergency dispatch reports, a contractor struck a 1¾-inch gas line belonging to PPL, causing an active leak.
Fire officials established a “hot zone” extending roughly 300 feet in all directions as a precaution.
Several medical offices in the affected building, including Stoneridge OB/GYN and Elizabeth Smith, CRNP, were evacuated. The site is next door to St. Luke’s Grand View Hospital.
Sellersville Fire Company is leading the response. PPL crews were being expedited to the scene to secure and repair the damaged line.
Lawn Avenue is closed at Almont Road while emergency crews manage the situation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
No injuries had been reported as of midday. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
