The longtime leader of Penn Medicine Doylestown Health will step down after more than a decade at the helm.
Jim Brexler, who has served as CEO for the University of Pennsylvania Health System for 13 years, announced he plans to transition out of the role following the health system’s recent integration into Penn Medicine, according to the Bucks County Herald. His departure comes shortly after the one-year mark of the merger’s completion.
During his tenure, Brexler oversaw major expansions and capital improvements, including investments in cardiovascular care, surgical facilities and diagnostic services. He also guided the organization through significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery efforts following storm damage to the hospital campus.
In a message to staff, Brexler reflected on his career and expressed confidence in the organization’s future, noting that leadership is working on a transition plan to guide the next phase of operations.
Penn Medicine will celebrate Brexler's legacy at a special reception Wednesday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Michener Art Museum, 138 S. Pine St., Doylestown.
