Telford Borough Police Department is thanking the community for its support and cooperation as the homicide investigation into Maria Popol continues, nearly a month after her death.

Popol, 23, was found dead March 14 at a residence on North Main Street, prompting a joint investigation involving local police and the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.

Authorities have released limited details about the case, citing the need to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

In a statement included in the department’s March crime blotter, attributed to Police Chief Randy Floyd, authorities acknowledged the frustration surrounding the lack of new information, but emphasized that withholding details is necessary to ensure the case can move forward successfully. He said investigators are continuing to pursue all leads and avenues.

"I know this is frustrating, and the community wants answers, but revealing specifics at this stage only harms the case moving forward," Floyd, through the police department, said in the crime blotter. "This needs to be done to ensure justice for Maria."

Floyd also expressed appreciation for the outpouring of support from residents, noting that many community members, organizations and businesses have stepped forward to assist or provide information.

"It is apparent through interviews and social media that Maria was a bright light and touched the lives of many people. Numerous community members, organizations, and businesses have offered their support in many ways," police said.

Authorities continue to ask anyone with information related to the case to contact Detective Adams at 215-723-6700 or via email at [email protected]. The investigation remains active.

"Although there is still work to be done, I would also like to thank the response and assistance from the various law enforcement agencies that come together on cases like this," police said.
