Fans of tacos, mark your calendars.
This October, Margaritas Mexican Restaurant is rolling out its annual TacOctoberfest, a monthlong celebration featuring free tacos, giant eating challenges, and beer-and-taco pairings across its Northeast locations.
The festivities kick off with National Taco Day on Tuesday, Oct. 7, when members of Margaritas’ “Circle of Friends” rewards program can score a free taco from 3 to 5 p.m. Choices include beef, chicken, or carnitas served in either a hard or soft shell.
Not a member yet? Guests can sign up on the spot or simply take advantage of the restaurant’s weekly Taco Tuesday deal, where all tacos are $4 all day.
For the truly daring, the Taco Gigante Challenge runs the entire month, according to a news release.
Competitors will face a two-pound taco stuffed with four meats, cheese, salsa fresca, refritos, lettuce, and rice, topped with queso and two house sauces.
A fiery new twist, the Flaming Gigante, ups the ante with extra-spicy Fuego sauce, jalapeños, and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Winners earn bragging rights along with free tacos every week for a year, while Flaming victors also snag a commemorative T-shirt.
For those not ready to conquer the beast solo, the oversized tacos are available to order and share for $15.
Rounding out the menu is a Taco & Cerveza pairing special, available Oct. 1 through 31. Guests can enjoy a Sam Adams Octoberfest alongside a birria taco plate featuring three slow-cooked beef and cheese tacos with consommé, grilled pineapple, onions, and cilantro. The pairing runs $19.99.
