In the wake of the child pornography allegations lodged against Republican Supervisor Nick Fountain by a Maryland sheriff's department on Wednesday, his colleagues on the board issued a statement on social media Thursday afternoon, calling for Fountain's resignation, if true.
“We were shocked to learn of the charges filed by the Harford County (Maryland) Sheriff’s Office against Nick Fountain, a member of the Skippack Township Board of Supervisors. We don’t know many details right now and are seeking to learn more from law enforcement. The details we do have, however, are deeply disturbing. If true, we call on Mr. Fountain to resign from the Board of Supervisors. We will not have anything further to say until we know more.”
Fountain, a married father of three sons, was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police troopers on Wednesday evening, and is currently in custody in Montgomery County, awaiting extradition to Maryland. Bail was denied by the court, according to the criminal docket.
He is accused of soliciting a 14-year-old boy for sex in Harford County, authorities said, and charged with one felony count each of sexual solicitation of a minor and solicitation of child pornography.
He was first elected supervisor in 2013, and was re-elected to his at-large term in November 2023.
Fountain, whose father, Don Fountain, is a Perkiomen Valley School Board member seeking re-election, opened the Magnolia Enrichment Center in Skippack in June 2020 and the Magnolia Children's Academy in Gilbertsville in August 2021.
The Perkiomen Valley High School graduate and Temple University elementary education alum, ran unsuccessfully for state senate in Bob Mensch’s seat in the 24th Senatorial District in 2022. Per his LinkedIn profile, Fountain had also been a junior kindergarten teacher at The Goddard School in Skippack from 2007 to 2020.
