Portable power banks produced by Anker Innovations sold at Best Buy and Target are being recalled due to 33 reports of fires, explosions and injuries, including minor burns.
One incident involved significant property damage.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects models A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681 and A1689, which were sold between August 2023 and June 2025 at Best Buy, Target, and other retailers, as well as online through Amazon, Walmart, AliExpress, eBay and TikTok.
The devices, designed to charge smartphones, tablets and laptops, retailed for $30 to $50, according to the recall.
Consumers should stop using the power banks immediately and visit Anker’s recall page to check the serial number and register for a refund or Anker gift card.
Customers must submit a photo showing the model and serial numbers, their name, the date of the photo, and the word “Recalled” written on the device, according to the CPSC.
Recalled devices with lithium-ion batteries should not be thrown in the trash or recycling bins, as they pose a fire risk. Such devices must be disposed of through a municipal, county, or state household hazardous waste center or event.
The products were manufactured in China by Anker Innovations Limited. The recall number is 25-466.
