Plumstead Township Police are inviting new and teen drivers to take part in a new program designed to teach them how to handle traffic stops safely and responsibly.
The department will host the First Stop program on Sunday, Sept. 22, and Sunday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at police headquarters, 5186 Stump Road in Pipersville. Registration is required.
According to police, the program allows young drivers with a valid license or learner’s permit to experience what it is like to be pulled over in a controlled and safe environment. Participants will use their own vehicles and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

In addition, the program will provide essential guidance on what to do if involved in a vehicle accident. Police said the goal is to give teens confidence behind the wheel and prepare them for real-world scenarios that can often be intimidating for new drivers.
Participants must bring a valid driver’s license or permit, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and a parent or legal guardian with identification.
