MAIN ST. BREAST CANCER NONPROFIT

Nonprofit Main St. kicks off 8th year supporting Bucks County breast cancer community

Monthlong program turns towns pink while raising funds for patients in treatment and recovery

  • Things To Do

A local nonprofit dedicated to helping breast cancer patients across Bucks County is gearing up for its biggest month of the year.

Main St., formerly known as Pine2Pink, will launch its eighth annual fundraising season on Sept. 24 at the Mercer Museum in Doylestown before taking over business districts countywide throughout October, according to a news release.

Founded in 2017, Main St. has raised more than $700,000 to directly support local breast cancer patients and their families. The nonprofit funds 11 programs that cover treatment transportation, wigs, meal delivery, mammogram equipment, infusion chairs, comfort bags and other essential needs.

Founder and Executive Director Keith Fenimore said the work is driven by a simple promise: keep the funds local and the impact immediate.

“The impact we are making through the support of our community is humbling and invigorating,” Fenimore said. “We’ll continue to focus all of our efforts locally and work hard to keep all of our programs funded in an effort to help as many people as possible.”

Throughout October, Main St. will host a wide slate of events and promotions across New Hope, Doylestown, Yardley, Perkasie, Newtown, Carversville, Dublin, and the Shops at Valley Square in Warrington.

Business districts will be lit up in pink and community members can take part in an augmented reality scavenger hunt via smartphone, earning prizes while supporting local shops and restaurants.

The nonprofit’s “Eat, Drink and Shop Pink” program returns as well, with dozens of businesses donating proceeds to Main St.

The calendar includes signature gatherings such as the Earth Angel Awards and Luminary Stroll on Sept. 24, the “Light the Night Pink” block party and Mr. Bucks County Competition on Oct. 16 in Newtown, and fitness, fashion and dining events scattered throughout the county:

Main St. channels its fundraising into partnerships with local health systems including Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham, Grand View Hospital, Kin Wellness and Support Center, Doylestown Health and Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic St. Mary Medical Center.

“#LocalForLocal” has become its rallying cry, with every dollar raised staying in Bucks County.
