Discover Lansdale’s motto is “Putting Lansdale on the map, one event at a time”.

About 14 years ago, a group of passionate Lansdale residents wanted to organize a Founders’ Day, and the nonprofit was quickly established to help support the celebration and other community events.

Bill Henning, president, talked to Access Network about all the great events coming up and how the community can get involved.

He said the nonprofit’s mission is “to galvanize and connect all sectors of our community — individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations and government — by creating a unified movement that promotes, produces, and maintains a clean, healthy, safe Borough for our families, friends, and guests.”

Some of its biggest events are Founders’ Day, First Fridays, Oktoberfest and the Mardi Gras Parade.

Just this month, Discover Lansdale hosted the 2025 Lansdale Beer Tasting Festival held at Memorial Park, and all summer long concerts were held in White’s Road Park.

Coming up on Sunday, October 5, is the Frachthaus Zer0.5K and Oktoberfest and on Saturday, November 22, Lansdale celebrates the start of the holiday season with the iconic Lansdale Holiday Mardi Gras Parade.

Discover Lansdale has also undertaken a large passion project, the revitalization of the 120-year-old Lansdale Freight House.

Henning said that in 2016 Discover Lansdale bought the building to save it from being torn down. And now through the help of grant funding and donations, work has begun to transform the historic building into a community space.

He said, “The vision is to create a welcome center, museum and an open use common area for anyone to rent, including weddings and community events.”

To help keep the Lansdale community connected, Discover Lansdale also publishes a business directory and dining guide which is available online and at businesses and restaurants throughout the borough.

How can the community get involved?

Henning said they hope residents and guests come out to their events to get to know their neighbors and hang out. Volunteers to help with events and fundraising projects are always appreciated as well.

He said the biggest challenge as a 100 percent volunteer-led organization is finding the time to organize all the events, along with their full-time jobs and families. That is why community involvement is so important.

Event sponsors, sponsorships for the Lansdale Freight House Rehabilitation Project and any donations also help support their mission, Henning added.
