Warrington Township Police Department hosts annual awards ceremony honoring excellence in law enforcement

As the department grows, events like this highlight the commitment, courage, and character that define the Warrington Township Police Department’s mission, police said

 On Sept. 9, Chief Daniel J. Friel and the Warrington Township Police Department held their annual Police Awards Ceremony to recognize officers for outstanding service, professionalism, and dedication to public safety.

The evening began with Officer Devin Yeager being sworn in by the Honorable Judge Stacey Wertman, marking the start of her service to the community.

    
    


Officers were then honored for their exceptional initiative, investigative skill, and commitment over the past year. Official Commendations included:

  • Officer James Umile for his rapid response and tactical coordination during a high-risk armed robbery arrest.
  • Officers Eric Sanford, Taylor Ostrich, William Moller, and Matthew Davison for safely resolving a dangerous armed domestic incident.
  • Officer Ryan Crescenzo for a self-initiated undercover investigation that removed illegal firearms and narcotics from the community.
  • Officer Joseph P. Triola III for lifesaving quick action administering the Heimlich Maneuver to a choking resident.
  • Other officers recognized with Commendatory Letters included:
  • Sgt. Jessica Bloomingdale for peacefully resolving a barricaded subject situation using skilled negotiation.
  • Lt. Glen Gottenberg, Sgt. Quentin Fuller, Officer Eric Sanford, and Co-Responder Katrina Mattioni for safely de-escalating a threatening incident involving a subject with mental illness.
  • Cpl. Alexander Moldavskiy for leading an investigation into a series of package thefts resulting in multiple arrests.
  • Officer Joseph Triola for his investigative work on a “grandparent scam” that led to criminal charges and uncovered a wider fraud network.
  • Officers Daniel J. Mulhern, Jr. and William J. Moller for recovering illegal firearms and narcotics during a suspicious vehicle stop.
  • Detective Timothy I. Williams for locating and safely recovering a missing juvenile despite challenges.
  • Detective Bernard J. Schaffer for skillfully investigating a sexual assault case involving a vulnerable victim.
    


Chief Friel praised the officers: "This ceremony celebrates the exceptional men and women who go above and beyond every day. What we’re recognizing isn’t a one-time success, but a sustained culture of excellence."

Additionally, ribbons of recognition were presented to honor years of dedicated service, including Lt. Ryan Meditz (35), Friel (25), Det. Schaffer (25), Sgt. Bloomingdale (20), Officer Frank Peranteau (20), Officer Daniel Errigo (5), and Triola (5).

Special acknowledgments will also be given for Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) to Officer Stephen Kennedy and Officer Daniel Mulhern, Northwestern University certification to Sgt. Aaron Menzies, instructor roles to Officer Nate Coia and Officer William Moller, and School Resource Officer service to Peranteau.
