Autumn is definitely in the air this week with plenty of community activities celebrating the switch to crisper air and the anticipation of Halloween.
This week is the perfect time to check out the scarecrow displays at Peddlers’ Village and Skippack Village.
If a night out in the city is more what you are craving though, then Opera Philadelphia’s presentation of Il viaggio a Reims may be just what you need.
This week there is also plenty of live local music on tap. The Joe Plush Duo will be playing the Copper Crow in Horsham on Friday and Sister Blue will be bringing the tunes to Gypsy Blu in Ambler.
On Wednesday, Discover Haverford is hosting its Love Local Night in the Brookline District which will include a special treat, the Flora Pop Up Wine Bar.
This weekend there is also plenty of family fun scheduled. On Saturday, Schwenksville Community Day will include plenty of family entertainment as well as vendors and food trucks. And on Sunday, the whole family is sure to enjoy the Jenkintown Festival of the Arts which will be held at Jenkintown Town Square, rain or shine.
Scarecrows in the Village at Peddler’s Village
Every day through Sunday, October 26, the Peddler’s Village will be celebrating fall with the Scarecrows in the Village.
More than 150 handmade scarecrows line the pathways of the village. Come out and vote for your favorite ones.

Scarecrows in Skippack Village
On Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m., Skippack Village is also having a scarecrow celebration. Each shop in the village has created their own one-of-a-kind scarecrow for you to enjoy.
Vote for your favorites on Saturday using QR codes. Winners will be revealed at the Night Market on October 24. The scarecrows will remain on display until the end of October.

Opera Philadelphia at Academy of Music
On Friday, September 19 and Sunday, September 21, Opera Philadelphia will be presenting Il viaggio a Reims at the Academy of Music.
The opera, a satire of class and manners, will be performed in Italian with English supertitles. Music is by Gioachino Rossini and the Libretto by Luigi Balocchi.
The show will also run Friday, September 26 and Sunday, October 28.

Joe Plush Duo at the Copper Crow Horsham

On Sunday, September 21, 1 p.m., the Jenkintown Festival of the Arts will kickoff at Jenkintown Town Square.

Schwenksville Community Day at Meadow Park
On Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m., the Schwenksville Community Day will be held at Meadow Park.
All the day’s activities are free and will include a mountain bike stunt show by Dial Action Sports, free kayak rides by Cabin Craft Outdoor Adventures, a magic show, and music by DJ Steve Kurtz.
