A Perkasie Borough man was taken into custody Thursday after a two-day police search that involved drones, K-9 units and a heavy police presence across several neighborhoods, according to Hilltown Township Police.
Police said Ryan Rodion Janiszewski, 24, of the 10th block of South 4th Street, was arrested Thursday after officers tracked him down around Rickert Road. He had allegedly fled from an initial domestic assault call a day earlier, leading to a widespread search near Dublin Road, Welcome House Road, Rickert Road and Forest Road.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Janiszewski was accused by a woman of forcing her to have sex without her consent inside a home on Bypass Road on Wednesday. A second person at the residence told police the defendant grabbed their arms, threw them onto a bed and attempted to pull down their pants before the victim escape, police said. Police said Janiszewski fled before officers arrived.
The following day, police said a homeowner in the 2500 block of Rickert Road reported that a suspect had cut a patio screen and entered the residence overnight, stealing two containers of spinach orzo pasta and a blanket.
Later that evening, the same homeowner reported finding a man identifying himself as “Ryan” hiding in an upstairs bedroom. The suspect fled again before officers arrived, prompting another large-scale search involving multiple agencies and K-9 units, police said.
Police said Janiszewski was eventually found hiding under bushes and taken into custody without further incident, though one officer suffered a minor injury during the search.
Janiszewski was charged Friday with felony burglary, felony flight to avoid apprehension, misdemeanor false imprisonment and misdemeanor evading arrest. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael W. Petrucci in Newtown and remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $150,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 30 before Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed, police said. Authorities thanked residents for their cooperation and reminded the public to keep doors, windows and vehicles locked and to promptly report suspicious activity.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
