A summer day on the greens turned into a major boost for local families in need.

The New Britain Charitable Foundation recently presented a $15,500 check to Bridge of Hope BuxMont, money raised during Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union’s annual charity golf outing at Sandy Run Country Club.

The donation will help Bridge of Hope continue its mission of preventing homelessness among single mothers and their children by providing safe housing, employment support, and long-term mentoring relationships. The nonprofit has been a lifeline for families in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, offering both practical resources and a sense of community for women striving to rebuild their lives.

For the New Britain Charitable Foundation, the gift reflects a tradition of giving back. Since the annual golf event began 25 years ago, it has raised more than $280,000 for causes across the region.

Founded in 2016 by Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union, the foundation focuses on strengthening local nonprofits that make a direct impact on residents, according to a news release.

“This is more than just a check presentation — it’s about investing in stability and hope for families in our own community,” said NBCF representatives at the ceremony.

Bridge of Hope leaders say the timing of the donation could not be more critical, as the demand for housing and support services continues to grow. For many of the families they serve, the path to independence starts with a safe place to call home — something this community partnership is helping make possible.
