A Doylestown Borough man is sitting in Bucks County jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing next week, on six felony charges related to the dissemination of child sexual abuse material on Snapchat and Dropbox.
Spencer Jacob Richardson, 38, of Fonthill Apartments on the 400 block of Fonthill Drive, was charged Aug. 28 by Bucks County detectives for incidents occurring online between Aug. 19, 2023 and June 4, 2024. He faces two felony counts each of disseminating photos of child sexual abuse material, possession of child pornography, and criminal use of communication device, according to court records.
On Jan. 9, 2024, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office began an investigation of a CyberTip submitted to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children by Snapchat on Aug. 19, 2023. The report from Snapchat said a user saved, shared or uploaded apparent CSAM on Aug. 19, 2023, involving a pre-pubescent female, according to the statement of facts.
Snapchat recorded the Comcast IP address on the account, and investigators matched it to an IP address that accessed and used Dropbox accounts, authorities said. The IP address and phone number associated with the Snapchat account were registered to Richardson, police said. On Jan. 14, 2024, police accessed PennDOT records that matched Richardson’s name and address.
On Aug. 22, 2025, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office initiated an investigation of a second CyperTip submitted to NCMEC, by Dropbox on Aug. 5, 2025, according to the complaint. A Dropbox user uploaded four CSAM files through the online platform on Aug. 4, 2025, which account information revealed to be Richardson, police said.
On Aug. 26, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Richardson’s home, in which Richardson’s wife was present, police said. Investigators seized a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra phone and an iPad, according to the complaint.
Detectives found that Richardson’s Dropbox account had a subfolder labeled “porn,” police said. Within the folder was 41 files, 30 of which were videos depicting underage females in stages of undress and nudity, police said.
Richardson is jailed on 10% of $150,000 cash bail ahead of a Sept. 8 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Mark Douple. He is represented by a public defender.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
