Local police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel were recognized this week for their swift response that saved the life of a cardiac arrest patient earlier this year.
At Tuesday’s Perkasie Borough Council meeting, Mayor Jeff Hollenbach, Council President James Ryder and Police Chief Robert A. Schurr presented Life Saving Commendations to members of the Perkasie Borough Police Department, Perkasie Fire Company and Grandview/St. Luke’s EMS.
The honors highlighted the work of Officers Mark Compas and Ryan Richardson, who were dispatched to a cardiac emergency in the borough on May 21. According to officials, the officers’ quick actions, combined with the expertise of Grandview EMT Sandy Swartley, Paramedic Hank Lawrence and Perkasie Fire Company members, were crucial in stabilizing the patient.
Fire Chief Jason Trotter, Battalion Chief Christopher Bogen, Lieutenant Christopher Grossbach and Firefighter Zach Boveri were also recognized for their roles in the successful outcome.
Borough officials credited the collaboration between agencies for ensuring the patient’s recovery and praised the first responders for their dedication.
“The community is grateful for their selfless commitment to public service,” officials said in a statement.
