Pennridge girls soccer showed no signs of rust after nearly two weeks off, blanking Souderton 3-0 on Tuesday in a Suburban One League Colonial Division contest at Helman Field.
Gabriella Howley opened the scoring in the first half off an Avery Runk corner, then combined with Madigan Posey for a second goal midway through the second, according to a gameplay report from The Mercury. Natalie Walter capped the win with a late tally off another Runk set pie.
The victory stretched the Rams’ winning streak to nine straight, keeping them atop both the SOL Colonial standings and the District 1-4A rankings. Souderton, which entered on a three-game win streak of its own, battled physically but generated most of its shots from distance, with Pennridge keeper Seretha DeMoss handling everything on target, according to the report.
Posey credited the team’s ability to “match their energy and physicality” in securing the clean sheet.
Pennridge (9-2, 5-0 Colonial) has not lost since Aug. 30 and will host Quakertown on Friday night. Souderton (8-4, 2-4) sits 11th in the district rankings and faces Upper Dublin and Haverford later this week.
